Gov.
Willie Obiano of Anambra State launches the take off of a N16 billion Cassava
and Tomato project, in partnership with Coscharis Group, a private investor.
The project will entail Cassava production and processing into Starch as well as
Tomato production.
While launching the
project called ‘Coched Farms’ in
Anaku, Ayamelumi Local Government, the Governor said that annually, 90,000 and
150 Metric Tonnes of Tomatoes will be produced, respectively; while 13, 500
direct and 100,000 indirect jobs will be created. The governor also announced
that the community and the State Government would receive 5% and 10% of the
annual profits, respectively; another 5% will be earmarked for the development
of community amenities. The project is expected to be completed within the next
8 to 12 months.
